'Ajibika’ is derived from the Kiswahili word ‘Wajibika’ which means, to be responsible or taking responsibility for one’s actions. This campaign was preceded by the Citizens Assembly Initiative
which is an open and inclusive movement of citizens and organizations committed to the realization of a good constitutional dispensation, social justice and good governance in Kenya through sensitization, mobilization, and engagement of citizens in matters affecting their democratic rights.
The project was initiated with the support from the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF)
